The $500,000 Google Picture Frame

Ever wonder what kind of Google Love you get when you spend over half a million dollars on Google AdWords in a given year? We manage some pretty sizable adWords accounts here, so it is always nice to see what Google is sending their big advertisers.

Well, this year’s Google gift of choice is a digital picture frame with a Google logo on the bottom right.

It is a pretty neat little device, about 5 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide. The whole thing is maybe a half inch thick not-including the stand in the back. It runs on either batteries or the AC adapter it comes with.

It has quite a few features including:

  • Rewind / Fast Forward / Stop / Play / Pause
  • Record with internal mic
  • Sound (small speaker in back)
  • USB connection to computer
  • SD Card Slot
  • MMC Card Slot
  • Menu System
  • MP3 & MP4 Support
  • Front-on-board controls
  • Software

The software that comes with it is pretty straight-forward with no really cool options.

To be fair, this was not the only gift that was given. Google also provided a multi-country Power Converter that I am sure will come in handy when we need to spend more money on AdWords hopping from country to country in the plane we could have purchased with the money we spent on AdWords. Ok, that sounded a little bitter. The company in question made a WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY off of their adWords dollars than they spent, so there really was no need for Google to send a gift at all. It is much appreciated.

I would guess the total package is worth somewhere around $250 – $350 bucks, which is not too shabby.

Thank you, Santa Google.

    Folks,

I just received in the mail what I believe to be a Google digital photo frame, but I’m not an AdSense advertiser, and I have no reason to believe that they would have a valid reason to be sending this device to me. I believe that this probably was intended for someone else and somehow mistakenly delivered to me, and I’d like to try to find out what the contact address is for the folks at Google who sent them.

Do you have any information that might help me track down the appropriate people at Google that I can talk to about this?

    Hi Guys,

Have you figured out how to get rid of the yellow “Battery Full” icon on the bottom left of the frame?

    Its driving me nuts!

FYI – I got mine in UK and it had a value of $75 on the fedex box.

    Hey Brad,

you don’t need to be an AdSense advertiser but more an adwords advertiser with over 500K yearly.

If you want to talk to the google guys just get in contact with your google key account manager, but you ll only have one if you send enough money on google 😀

After trying for about 90 minutes to get mine to work properly I gave up and threw it out. It was a piece of garbage. The instructions were in something similar to english but not really english.

Thanks for nothing Google – you owe me 90 minutes of life.

    Hey Brad,

Did you get the driver to work on your Mac? I saw a Mac screenshot above. Its a pain hooking it up to my PC to load stuff.. 🙁 Btw, we only did about 40k worth of ppc and I was mailed one of these.

Oh and that screenshot of the software on a mac is fake, kinda. Well its not really a mac, its just a windows machine someone has customized to look like a mac! Wannabees lol

Editor Note: You are correct about it not really being a Mac. I use FlyAKite OSX on my PCs – it gives me the aesthetics of a Mac without having to give up so much of my software selection.

Since you wrote this post in 2006, I was wondering what the Google gifts for spending 500,000.00 on adsense for 2007 and 2008 where, if any?
