Split Testing Keyword Lists – Zip Codes vs. Cities

One of the questions I received a lot in my former career as CTO of Angular Marketing was whether to use cities or zip-codes in site architecture. For example, imagine a client comes to me who runs tennis clinics across the North Carolina triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill). Should they build their website like this… http://tenniscoaches/raleigh-nc/classes or like this… http://tenniscoaches/27519/classes Well, it turns out there is a really easy way to answer this question by split-testing with Moz Keyword Explorer lists. Google Keyword Planner vs Google Trends

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately trying to improve upon Google Keyword Planner data at Moz. Have you ever compared Google Keyword Planner data with Google Trends? Google Trends only provides relative statistics, while Keyword Planner shows actual volume estimates. However, you would expect that ebbs and flows of volume, the trends themselves, should be the same. For the keyword “baseball”, you can see the rise from December through to the summer, but the drop off, but October in Keyword Planner isn’t even close to represented in Google Trends. For the keyword soccer, once again, we see a nice increase from December through June in Trends matching that of Keyword Planner. However, we don’t see the same thing for the last 3...

Momentum Wi-Fi Video Camera Walmart Won’t Connect Issue

Hey folks, this is an unrelated blog post to what I normally write, just wanted to put this out on the internet to help others who might be having the same problems… If you are trying to connect your new Momentum wi-fi cameras but aren’t having any luck, here are a couple of potential issues you might want to check… Are you connecting to a 2.4GHz network? The cameras do not seem to want to connect to a 5GHz network and, in fact, might not be capable of it. If you have a dual-band system, you might need to make sure you connect to the 2.4GHz. Does your router support UPnP? If you use AT&T U-verse like me, it doesn’t. This means you need to set up port forwarding. Importantly, you need to set up Port-Forwarding for the device you are...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes…

It has been more than 10 years since I began working for Virante/Angular. In that time I have made incredible friends, created exciting technologies, and had the privilege to work with brilliant people doing wonderful things for great clients. But all good things come to an end. I honestly cannot look back at the last 10 years and lodge a legitimate complaint. The other executives who have helped lead our company along the way have done nothing but give me the resources, support, and gentle nudges-back-to-reality I have needed to grow my own knowledge and build great things for our clients. From free tools like OpenCaptcha and LinkSleeve which have literally stopped tens of billions of pieces of spam from making their way onto the web, to innovative search...
